Overview:

Following the resounding success of the Great AppSec Hackathon 2021, which saw over 6000 registrations, 5000+ participants, and 700+ finalists nationwide, the Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CCoE), DSCI, is excited to announce the upcoming 2024 edition of the Great Hackathon. Anticipation for this year's event is appreciable.

The Great AppSec Hackathon - 2024, organized by CCoE, is aimed at students from diverse academic backgrounds (B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc/B.Sc/MCA/BCA) worldwide. This edition of the Hackathon is going international, welcoming students from across the globe.

The initiative's primary objectives include:

• Raising awareness about cybersecurity.
• Fostering skill development.
• Providing employment and internship opportunities for students.
• Assisting organizations in identifying and attracting top talent.
• Enhancing the overall cybersecurity landscape.

As we gear up for this eagerly anticipated event, our mission is to cultivate innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the cybersecurity realm, contributing to the collective advancement of technology and security practices worldwide.

Overview of Application Security:

Security is crucial for application developers and infrastructure specialists alike. Knowledge of security and privacy is essential for creating secure applications. Despite the abundance of mobile apps, with over 2 million on Android and iOS combined, 55% fail to make it to the platform due to security and privacy oversights during development. 

Web applications are increasingly targeted by cybercriminals. Recent statistics from the Verizon Data Breach Report reveal that 70% of breaches in the retail sector originate from web applications. The average cost of a data breach is a staggering 4.24 million dollars, highlighting the significant risk to businesses.

Objectives:

• Create awareness of threats and vulnerabilities related to application security.
• Adopt a gamified approach to learning and skill-building.
• Provide internship opportunities for students.
• Encourage students in application security.
• Boost the cybersecurity quotient in the ecosystem.

Guidelines:

• Register and create a login using your personal credentials.
• This is an online event, all dates and times are in IST.
• Respect published game rules and host site policies.
• Collaboration is not allowed; work independently.
• Attacks on the CTF infrastructure are prohibited.
• Decisions of the CCoE operations team are final and binding.

2. CTF Round

   - Ends: 22/08/2024 at 5:00 PM
